Sunday, August 9 to Saturday August 15, 2009 A group of more than 80 teens and adults will gather at New Hope Camp and Convention Center outside Raleigh Durham for two days of teambuilding and training. Then they will divide into five groups, each one spending three days at one of the North Carolina schools. They return to Raleigh for a grand celebration. The YTC group introduced their programs to the teens of North Carolina by demonstrating the refurbishing process and providing free computer labs to their communities. Training was conducted by students and staff of Youth Technology Corps. Participating partners supporting this trip included: After School Matters, Chicago, IL.; Chicago Public Schools: Phillips, Farragut, Washington & Hyde Park Morton East High School, District 201, Cicero, IL; North Carolina New Schools Project (NCNSP), North Carolina; Teaching Institute for Excellence in STEM (TIES); OfficeMax Image Microsystems Participating North Carolina Schools: Bertie STEM High School, Windsor, NC; Jacket Integrated Academy, Winston-Salem NC; James B. Kenan Schl. of Engineering, Warsaw NC; Weldon STEM Academy, Weldon, North Carolina Wayne School of Engineering, Goldsboro NC, Base Camp was: New Hope Camp & Conference Center - Chapel Hill, NC Computers that were refurbished at the Wayne School of Engineering where i was based were donated to a women's local shelter
